“Small business isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s for the brave, the patient and the persistent. It’s for the overcomer.”Unknown
There’s something about a small, local business, that makes it all the more authentic than any big corporate, that is hard to really put your finger on. If it wasn’t for many other small local business Big Bear Digital may not be in business today. And I don’t just mean because our clients are small businesses. I mean that if it wasn’t for small, local businesses we would never have started doing what we do; both because they inspired us to want to make them more successful, and because a number of them were there at the outset supporting us on our way.
A fellow entrepreneur called Phil Jackson who runs a salon business in Newbury recently won an award for innovation. Often it is small businesses that offer true innovation. Creativity is at its finest when someone is so passionate about what their creating that they throw their entire heart and soul into the project. This is true local business.
Take a company called Bigger, Brighter, Bolder for example. George and Tracey who run it are always looking out for the innovations of their fellow business owners. Their entire business is built around nurturing the potential within fellow entrepreneurs and stirring the creative side within them. This is a true support network of local businesses.
There is a very famous quote that sums up our view on why working with small businesses is so important.
“When you buy from a local business you are not helping a CEO buy their third vacation home. You are helping a little girl get dance lessons, allowing a little boy to score the winning goal, putting food on a family’s table and getting a student through college. Our customers are our shareholders and the ones we strive to make happy.”Unknown
Ultimately its all about working with people who care about what they’re doing just as much as we do.
Are you a small business owner? Does a member of your family or a friend run a local business? What makes it so important to you?
